Automatic Doors for Hotels and Hospitality
A hotel entrance is the first and last thing a guest touches, and it runs at three in the morning as reliably as at three in the afternoon. A1 Door Services installs, repairs, replaces and maintains hospitality entrances across Texas, Connecticut and Alabama. In hospitality the standard is higher than working. A door that opens but rattles, hesitates or drags is a service issue in a lobby even when it would be acceptable in a warehouse, and it is judged by every guest who walks through it.

Where the Doors Are in a Hotel
- Main lobby entrances, often a revolving door with sliding or swing entrances beside it.
- Porte-cochère and covered arrival doors, exposed to the worst of the weather.
- Vestibule pairs and doors in series controlling wind and stack pressure through the lobby.
- Conference, ballroom and meeting space entrances.
- Pool, spa, fitness and amenity access doors.
- Back-of-house, kitchen, laundry and service entrances.
Automatic Door Installation in Hospitality
Lobby entrances are specified for continuous duty and quiet running. Sliding systems are chosen for smooth, silent operation and a wide clear opening for luggage; revolving doors are chosen where wind and stack pressure through the lobby need to be controlled; vestibule pairs do the same job where a revolving door will not fit the architecture.
Amenity and meeting space doors are usually low-energy swing operators, specified to be unobtrusive and set to open slowly enough not to startle anyone.
Installation and replacement are staged overnight behind screening, with an alternative arrival route arranged and signed before the work starts.

Automatic Door Repair in Hotels
The faults that bring us to a hotel are often not failures at all — a door that has become noisy, one that hesitates before it starts, one that no longer closes tight and lets a draught across the lobby floor.
We repair drives, belts, carriers, rollers, bearings, control boards, sensors and seals, and correct the frame and threshold issues behind them. On revolving doors we service the drive, speed control, breakout and the four sensor groups, covered in detail on our revolving door service page.
Repairs are scheduled overnight wherever possible. Where a lobby entrance has to come out of use during the day, an alternative route is set up and staffed by agreement before the work begins.

Porte-Cochère and Exterior Entrances
Covered arrival entrances sit in the most exposed position on the property and take wind, rain and blown debris in a way interior doors never do. Seals, thresholds, drainage and the bottom track take the beating, and they are the parts that quietly let water onto the lobby floor.
We replace seals, sweeps and thresholds, clear and correct drainage paths, and check the header and frame for the movement that exposure causes over time.
Scheduled Maintenance in a Working Hotel
Hotel entrances run continuously, so the interval is set on cycles rather than on the calendar — quarterly for most lobby entrances, more often on properties with heavy arrival peaks.
Each visit covers cycle testing, sensor re-aiming, timing and force adjustment, drive and running gear condition, seal compression, threshold and drainage, revolving door speed and breakout where applicable, and the locking and access control sequence on entrances that are secured overnight. The annual safety inspection is folded into one visit a year.
Amenity, meeting space and back-of-house doors are covered on the same visit so the whole property is on one schedule.
Emergency Response for Properties
Emergency calls are answered around the clock, which matters more in hospitality than almost anywhere else — a lobby entrance stuck open at two in the morning is a security problem as well as a comfort one.
The most common urgent calls are entrances that will not lock overnight, revolving doors that have stopped mid-rotation, and glass damage in the arrival area. All three are made safe and secured the same visit.

Portfolios and Groups
Hotel groups and management companies are covered property by property on one schedule with a single point of contact, so a regional director is not managing a different arrangement in every city.
Where a group is standardising its arrival experience, entrance replacement can be rolled out property by property overnight, with each lobby finished before the next one starts.

Automatic Door Replacement in a Working Property
Lobby entrances are replaced overnight, behind screening, with an alternative arrival route agreed and signed before the work starts. Where the existing frame is square and sound, the new header, operator and panels go into it, which keeps the whole replacement inside a single overnight window in most properties.
Revolving door replacement takes longer and is planned across several nights, with the adjacent sliding or swing entrance carrying arrivals in the meantime. Either way the lobby is presentable before the morning check-out rush.
Accessible Entrances and Guest Rooms
A revolving door is never the accessible route, so the entrance beside it carries that duty and has to be maintained accordingly. We measure clear width, opening force, hold-open and threshold on the accessible entrance rather than assuming it still meets what it did at handover.
Accessible guest room doors, pool and fitness access, meeting room entrances and public restrooms are the other openings guests most often struggle with, and they are the quickest to fit with a low-energy operator.
Conference, Ballroom and Event Space Doors
Event space entrances sit unused for days and then take several hundred people in a few minutes. That pattern is hard on hardware: doors get held, propped, pushed while opening and hit by equipment trolleys during set-up and break-down.
We service them on the same schedule as the lobby, with particular attention to arm and linkage wear, actuator condition, hold-open settings and the frame alignment that heavy event traffic quietly destroys.

Common Hotel Entrance Faults
Lobby doors that have become noisy or hesitant, revolving doors that stop mid-rotation, entrances that no longer close tight and let a draught across the floor, and porte-cochère doors that have started letting water in are the four calls we take most often in hospitality.
None of them are total failures, and all of them are visible to guests. They also all have straightforward causes — worn carriers and bearings, a drifting sensor group, hardened seals, a lifted threshold — which is why hospitality entrances respond so well to a fixed service interval.
Locking, Access Control and Overnight Security
Hotels secure their entrances overnight and open them again in the morning, often on a schedule rather than by hand. That sequence involves the operator, the locking device, the access control interface and sometimes the fire alarm, and a fault anywhere in it leaves an entrance that will not lock or will not open.
We install, repair and test that whole sequence, including card access for out-of-hours guest entry, and check it in both directions rather than only the one the property uses most.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you work overnight so guests are not disturbed?
Yes. Hospitality work is normally scheduled overnight, with the working area screened from the lobby and an alternative arrival route arranged.
Why do hotels use revolving doors?
They keep wind and stack pressure out of the lobby while people are passing through. An adjacent swing or sliding door provides the accessible route and is serviced alongside it.
Our lobby is always draughty — can that be fixed?
Often yes, through seal replacement, closing cycle timing, vestibule sequencing and threshold work rather than a new entrance.
Can you cover a group of properties?
Yes. Portfolios are scheduled together with one point of contact across the properties, including mixed door types and manufacturers.
Do you service amenity and back-of-house doors as well?
Yes, on the same visit as the lobby entrance, so the whole property is covered on one schedule.
Our lobby door has become noisy — is that a fault?
In hospitality, yes. Noise usually comes from worn carriers, bearings or a drive losing regulation, and it is normally fixable before it becomes a failure.
How often should a hotel entrance be serviced?
Quarterly for most lobby entrances, more often where the property has heavy arrival peaks or a revolving door in continuous use.
